Breed Classification: Belonging to the Hound group, as such Dachshunds are good at using scent to trail and hunt animals, and have a tendency to go deaf to your calls when on a scent!. They don’t give up and can have a tendency towards digging. They make a a loyal family companion.

Physical Description: Dachshunds come in six varieties and two sizes. Standards and Miniatures. Dachshunds are muscular and appear long-bodied, but really they just have short legs.Their coats can be long haired, smooth or wire haired. Dachshunds have long muzzles with an increased nose area.

Aliments: Dachshunds are prone to spinal disc problems (medications may include anti-inflammatory medications and crate confinement). The breed may also have other health issues, such as urinary tract problems and heart disease. The risk is worsened by obesity.
